My parents came to visit us last weekend along with my oldest sister and her husband. It was my dad's birthday a few days before so we made sure to celebrate it all weekend long. If anyone deserves to feel special on their birthday then he does. He is a great man! He's a typical dad in the sense that he isn't at all bothered about his birthday though and never expects any gifts, but that just makes me want to spoil him even more. And besides, I always feel like people aren't telling the truth when they say they're not bothered about their birthday. Who doesn't love to get presents?!
I made him a chocolate cake with kit Kats all around it because he ALWAYS has one after his dinner. It's like a ritual. Me and Scarlett decorated it before they arrived (well i did, she just licked her spoon) and it turned out really nice! We hung a few banners around the lounge and blew up some balloons in preparation of the birthday boy arriving. He seemed grateful for the effort that had been made on his behalf which made me smile. I hope he felt special all weekend.
On Saturday the boys were meant to go to a football game but it was cancelled last minute (such a bummer) so instead they took a stadium tour while us girls had some quality time together. We went into town briefly to get a few things from the veg stalls at the local market then we got some ice cream. Mmmm it was SO good. To anyone who lives in the same area, you HAVE go to Fredericks ice cream shop at some point. You can thank me later. After filling our faces with too many flavours of ice cream we went and had a wander around the temple grounds to walk it off.
To continue the birthday celebrations we went out for dinner later that evening when the boys came home from playing snooker to a homely little place nearby where they serve your typical pub grub style food. It definitely hit the spot and us girls had a nice time hearing all about the football stadium tour (sense my sarcasm).
We found this wig in my sisters car. Scarlett found it hilarious but refused to try it on at first but as soon as she caved in and put it on, out came a different personality. This is her pouting. One of the mannnny poses she tried out.
On Sunday, my wonderful mum showed us a thing or two in the kitchen (as she does. When is she going to run out of tips & tricks?) and we all sat around the table to have an early easter feast. It was seriously thee best roast dinner I have had in a loooong time and so nice to all sit together, causally chatting away.
But the fun had to end at some point and soon enough it was time to say goodbye. They had a good few hours of travelling ahead of them but made it home safe and sound. It was such a lovely few days we all spent together and a shame that my other sister and her hubby had to miss out. It was definitely a nice end to the first week of half term.
Jennifers amazing cheesecake. Will definitely be trying this out for myself!

I'm looking forward to Easter next weekend and want to know if anyone out there has any fun Easter traditions that they don't mind sharing. You know me- keen to have a family tradition for everything and anything throughout the year!
