Remember remember

I love Bonfire night but growing up we never really had any traditions other than watching the firework display from my mum and dads bedroom window. We didn't live very far from the park where they would host a annual bonfire night so I don't know why we're never went along. We did maybe once or twice but I don't have any memory of going more than that.

So because I feel robbed of a tradition, I really wanted to start something that me and josh can do together every year. Whenever I think of creating new traditions I always envision what these traditions will be like in 5/10 years time when we have our own family. Sometimes it's hard to start family traditions with just 2 people but I want to be able to tell our children that we have being doing certain things ever since we were first married. I like to think that my family will look forward to particular times in the year because they know that we all get together to carry out our traditions! Josh told me that his Grandad used to make toffee apples every year for bonfire night and i loved that idea. We didn't get chance to do it this time but will definitely give it a go next year.

So as bonfire night approached this year I looked around to find out if there was anything going on locally. We went to a park nearby that had a massive bonfire, with lots of little good stalls and even some rides! It was much better than I anticipated- there were easily 300+ people there. The bonfire was huuuuge!

Some people don't like fireworks and I can't understand why?! They are so pretty and totally fill me with excitement for some reason. And I absolutely love being all wrapped up when it' freeeezing outside.

Even though i had a terrible cold and felt pretty ill it was such a lovely night and great atmosphere! Afterwards we came home and had some homemade vegetable soup that I had made earlier that afternoon (my recipe can be found here) and then apple pie & jam roly poly with custard for dessert. I can't post those recipes because i didn't bake them!! They were really good though!

We had a really fun night together and I loved watching all the fireworks explode in the sky with my love. I'm hoping that it will be a long standing tradition in our family for years to come and that we will make many memories so that we will always "remember remember the 5th of November."
