I really can't believe that Christmas is only 16 days away now. What?! I finally got round to doing some Christmas shopping at the weekend so I was really excited to start buying gifts but not so excited about visiting The Trafford Centre on the first Saturday in December. Surprisingly it was no where near as busy as I thought it would be which was good. I'm feeling a bit more relaxed that most of my shopping is now done but we still need to buy a few bits and pieces to finish everything off. Hopefully that will only take one more trip though. Not that I don't enjoy Christmas shopping, because I really do, its just the hassle of it all. I went with an idea in my head of what to get everyone but when I got there I was stood with multiple things in each hand having a mini dilemma about what to buy! And then once you finally decide what to buy, you don't have enough arms to carry everything so you end up fighting your way past people trying not to bash them. Nightmare.
All last week we'd been dipping into our Christmas chocolate stash and sipping on Shloer while we made our way through our Christmas DVD collection almost every single night. And of course, working in a primary school you don't go more than 2 or 3 minutes without hearing the word "Christmas". It is exciting though and I love how magical children make this time of year. It really does make you wish you still believed like them. Listening to them practise all the songs for their school play is the cutest thing ever.
On Sunday, I also got round to writing all of our Christmas cards and wrapped a few gifts that are now sitting all pretty under our tree! Josh was desperate to make sugar cookies so we made those after dinner. Although they are really easy to make, I feel like they take forever to finish because you have to chill the dough for ages then you spend ages decorating them! It was nice to do together though and they tasted really good. I'll post the recipe we used because they did turn out great.
All in all, a very productive weekend! Not long to go now until we head to Scotland. I cant wait for a few days off work to spend time with my family. Hurry!!
